Dirty Disco Traxx of the Moment

influences

I’ve been holding off on posting the song by the amazingly named “Does it Offend You, Yeah?” since it’s pretty well publicized in the electro blogosphere, but it’s too good to keep to myself any longer. It features an uber-rock version of Justice’s dirty digital sound, plus a huge driving bass line and squelchy synth squelches galore. And then suddenly: a big pop chorus avec vocoder! I adore dance music but more than anything else I love *songs*, and while there aren’t exactly lyrics to this one, the structure and arrangement is closer to a radio hit than your average club banger. So: big ups!

Discovery credit here goes to Guns n’ Bombs, an LA DJ/production team consisting of Filip Turbotito from Ima Robot and Johnny Love from Opaque, who injected this track into their latest mix. Equal props out to the amazing Acidgirls, who have a link to the full mix.

Guns ‘n Bombs on will be in SF at Club Loaded on March 2, we’ll definitely be there. (Bonus/extra credit: get their first mix at fluokids).

Not so new but major points for lingering in my brain in for the past few months, In Flagranti‘s track “Bang Bang” featuring vocals by G-rizo. I first heard on this on Cut Copy’s FabricLive disc last year, a CD that got major spins in the Luxxury tour van all Summer. Italo-disco madness featuring a Sylvester sample and Giorgio-y 16-th note arpeggiated bass – the perfect ol’ skool electro antidote to the almost violently Zeitgeist flavors of the first song posted.

On the mix that took me a long time to complete I got ONE comment on this “blog”, and it was from YOU! This thread already has TWO comments, THREE with this one.

What the hell? Get the French guy Bob to comment on mine.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? is a lot of fun. I posted about these guys back in November when I first found Justice and SebastiAn.

Have you heard the DIOY,Y? mix set that’s been floating around the internet? Interesting choices.
