MP3: “I Get Around (Midnight Juggernaut remix)” – Dragonette
(NOTE – NOW UPDATED WITH NEW, WORKING LINK!)
Banger du Jour nothin’ – this is definitely Le Banger de la Month, and maybe even de la Year So Far. It’s on the upcoming Kitsune 4 and if you haven’t heard it yet you will be unable to avoid it as soon as it drops. I first heard this Australian band/production team (and yes, it’s yet another damn amazing group of electro-awesome Aussies with close ties to the Modular mafia) when I heard this Daft Punk meets synthpop ditty on the fantastic Fabric29 (Cut Copy) last summer:

Here’s the video for “Shadows”:
That song is from the “Secrets of the Universe” EP, which is available here and features a Presets remix of the Juggs’ “Devil Within.” Pick it up now.
Speaking of The Presets, here’s a remix MJ did last year for them:

I’ve noticed everyone really likes that MJ version of Dragonette but I find myself leaning way more to the Van She treatment. That said though, I’ve been playing out ‘Shadows’ since I first heard it, fucking genius song.
Yes! I love Van She to death but their Dragonette remix kinda bores me – I listened to it back to back with the MJuggs version yesterday and I think it’s cuz the vocal hook isn’t really hook-y enough – they didn’t use the *sick* harmony part that’s just pure ear candy….
BTW new Kissy Sellout remix of Dragonette’s “Take it Like a Man” is here, courtesy the always rad Put The Needle on the Record.
45 and rising is their best song for sure.

I love that I’ve coined the contraction “Midnight Juggs.” It makes them sound like the best Australian disco rock porn magazine ever. Please, everyone reading this: start using it.
